Hand-stitched vintage bears with quiet souls and cedar hearts
Plush Souls of California is a handmade toy atelier where every plush creation is stitched with sawdust hearts and quiet character. Born in California, our collectible, vintage-style bears carry a touch of nostalgia and a story in every seam.
After Japan, Oliver continued his grand tour and landed in Hong Kong, a city where skyscrapers grow faster than bamboo and even breakfast can come with a Michelin star.
(Yes, he now claims he’s “practically a food critic.”)
We stayed in a luxury hotel, the kind where everything smells like orchids and where even the elevators move with dignity. Oliver, of course, took this as an invitation to explore every corner and — more importantly — to pose with every art object he could find.
Oliver’s Flirtation With a New Career
It all started with a pair of elegant bronze children jumping rope.

Oliver sat at the base of the pedestal, studying them with an expression he clearly felt was “artistically thoughtful.”
What if, he wondered, I worked here too?
What if I became… an exhibit?

On one paw:
Sitting in the same spot day after day, year after year — absolutely boring.
No snacks. No travel. No hotel slippers to steal.
On the other paw:
Compliments. Admiring glances. People photographing him from his best angle.
(Also, conveniently, his only angle.)
Tempting.
From ancient-looking metal creatures to ornate vases and museum-style display cases — Oliver tried them all. He imagined himself as “Oliver the Timeless Icon,” pretending to be still, although he kept blinking and sighing, which would immediately disqualify him in any museum environment.
A Heavy Sigh and a Gentle Regret
After a long morning of deep artistic contemplation — and a short nap by the Christmas flowers in the lobby — Oliver concluded that the life of a permanent display piece might not be for him.
He left the hotel with a dramatic, heavy sigh.
A sigh that clearly said:
Another career path closed.
Another missed opportunity for fame.
And yet… breakfast with a Michelin star was worth it.
Next stop: China, where Oliver expects even more art, even more noodles, and (hopefully) fewer temptations to abandon his current profession as “a wandering bear of questionable discipline.”“
Stay tuned.
